I’m unsure when it started but I have never been one to shy away from buying a gadget to aid injury healing.
I think it started when my brother qualified as a chiropractor. He had an ultrasound therapy machine for muscle and tendon injuries. We must have used this machine regularly over the years for niggles and by miracle it always helped.
I remember having a physio who would come to the house to give me a sports message every Saturday and he would charge £30 and say “ill give you a heavy dose of ultrasound therapy”. My brothers machine had broken by this time. Alas I continued with the physio when I saw on Ebay that I could get a 1mhz and 3mhz ultrasound machine for £139.00 from India.
It was great until I lent it to my dad who managed to break it. Classic dad!!
Anyway then went to medicare and got handheld ones which continue to work to this day and have kept it away from my dad!!!
I’ve totally digressed! But the toys collection includes the ultrasound machines, foam roller, back stretcher, and a theragun. I had a mickey mouse one but upgrading to the original was a game changer.
So into this acl prehab and planning rehab; I have ordered some new toys
- The therabody powerdot duo 2.0.
- Saga fitness blood flow restriction cuffs (premium price plus trump tariffs on top. Cheers Donald!)
- A static peddler for regaining flexion post surgery.
- A cryo knee cuff – to aid compression and reduction in swelling.
The above may seem over-the-top to the average folk but average i am not.
I’ll be updating here as I used them. I gave the bfr cuffs and powerdot a go in the office yesterday and today. Since working out in my pants isn’t an option at the gym; I’ll need to plan how I can use these gadgets in the public gym. Meanwhile here are some pics for a laugh

I’m out.
