Strength in the Setbacks

The past week has been a mixed bag. Strength training has been going well – the weights are moving cleaner, the quads are firing properly, and every session feels like another small step forward. Even banded nordics are feeling like there is more movement. HAve to keep reminding myself that it was only 110 days ago i was under the knife! But the body has a way of reminding you when something’s off. My lower back and sacroiliac joint have been aching lately, forcing me to ease back on the heavier lifts and pay closer attention to how I move, sit, and recover. Been waking up with stiff lower back – but as a massage lower back and glutes it eases up.

Still, progress isn’t always measured by the barbell. On Wednesday, I walked over 20,000 steps across London – it was 95% pain-free, steady, and strong. It was a different kind of endurance test, one that showed how far my body has come since surgery.

The journey isn’t linear. Some weeks the barbell humbles you; other weeks, a long city walk becomes the win. Both count. Both matter. The comeback continues.
